High-strength steel
High-strength steel is the most commonly used steel grade for steel structures requiring yield strengths higher than 355MPa. Advantages of high-strength steel include high reliability, high yield strength and weight savings by allowing you to work with thinner material.
Examples of high strength steel applications
- Transport equipment
- Containers
- Civil structures
- Pipelines

Our machinery for high-strength steel
Thanks to our extensive range of machinery, including our press brakes of 700, 800 and 1000 tonnes pressing force, we specialise in cutting and bending most high-strength steel grades up to 40 mm thick.
What types of steel do we process?
- Carbon steels; S235JR-S355MC-S420MC, S500MC, S700MC, S355J2+N and S690QL.
- Stainless materials, in particular; RVS304 and RVS316
- Various aluminium grades including; AW5754.
- Wear-resistant materials including; Hardox, Domex and Raex.
- Exotic materials including; C45, CrMo4, Inconel and heat-resistant stainless steel.
Our knowledge of high-strength steel
When working with high-strength steel, there is a greater risk of cracking and springback. Working it is complex and requires specific knowledge and tools. WBM has these in house!
